UnSee Update #2 // June 2024
Words by: Riccardo Torta
June is coming to an end, and so is our first round of interviews.
During the first part of the month, we had the luck of engaging in illuminating conversations with both service design experts and practitioners from different parts of the world. The interviewees were prompted with questions aimed at exploring values, purposes and needs of their new transformative approaches integrating one or both systemic and future-oriented perspectives. Together with their perspectives, they also shared practical examples drawing from one or more experiences in their field.

The topics and themes that were touched on in our conversation [fig. 2] brought forth a practitioner field that seems in a constant state of evolution – or expansion – driven by the will to activate real transformative actions towards their contextual futures. Ecological, social and techical transformation represent the target for these new emerging practices, such pursue is made possible by a deep understanding of the context but also a vivid perceptions of how futures might come to unfold.

As of today, we are starting to move forward from the interviews and making sense of their insights together. Their systematization will be done both individually and collectively through an internal workshop among our team of researchers.
While actively planning these next steps, we welcome any reflections and suggestions for design practitioners to interview. At the same time, we extend our gratitude to everybody who has been involved so far!
